Road Trip Car Checklist for Dallas Drivers
Before you point the car toward I-35, I-20, or the Hill Country, a few minutes of checks can save you a roadside headache. Start with the glass.
Glass & wipers
- Fix chips first. Highway miles, heat, and debris spread small damage fast. Get a chip repaired before a long drive.
- Check the windshield for cracks in your line of sight or at the edges that could worsen on the trip.
- Inspect wiper blades for cracked or hardened rubber, and replace them if they streak — Texas sun wears them out quickly.
- Top off washer fluid for bug splatter and dust on the highway.
- Clean inside and out so glare and haze don't tire your eyes.
The rest of the pre-trip check
- Tires: tread depth, even wear, and proper pressure (including the spare). Texas summer heat raises pressure and stresses worn tires.
- Fluids: oil, coolant, and brake fluid at proper levels.
- Battery: heat is hard on batteries — check that terminals are clean and it's holding charge.
- AC: confirm it's blowing cold before you commit to hours in the heat.
- Lights & brakes: all bulbs working; no new noises or pulling when braking.
- Emergency kit: water, phone charger, basic tools, and a first-aid kit.
Most of these you can do yourself. For the glass, we've got you — we can repair a chip at your home or office before you leave. Text a photo to (214) 555-0100 or request a quote.
